PARTS PROJECT

Parts is a multidisciplinary art project created by a diverse group of multicultural artists. The project aims to develop an interactive performance and workshop concept that encourages youth participation, strengthens social inclusion, and supports the integration of young people from refugee backgrounds in Finland.

The performance material is created collaboratively by a diverse team of professional artists. The first year of Parts took place in 2025. Work-in-progress pieces were presented at the UrbanApa Festival and as part of Welcome Day events organized by the City of Helsinki. The performances then toured three reception centres for unaccompanied and underage young people, as well as family centres in the Helsinki metropolitan area and Kotka.Following the performance tour, the project organized three open workshops for young people. Participants from different cultural and social backgrounds came together to explore artistic practices, experiment, and create work collaboratively. Material and artwork produced during the workshops were incorporated into the final performance, which was presented at Dance House Helsinki (Tanssin talo) on 14 December 2025.

Parts 2026

In 2026, Parts returns with an expanded programme. During the summer, the artistic team began developing Parts Vol. 2, with work-in-progress performances taking place in outdoor cultural spaces and at various events throughout August and September.

​

During the autumn, the project focuses on planning and delivering the workshops while the artistic team continues developing and finalizing the performance. In November, Parts Vol. 2 will tour six different reception centres in Southern Finland, bringing the performance and participatory activities directly to young people from diverse backgrounds.

Through the combination of professional artistic work, participatory workshops, and encounters between young people and artists, Parts creates a space for creativity, dialogue, connection, and shared experiences across cultural and social boundaries.

The project is supported by the Arts Promotion Centre Finland (Taike) and the City of Helsinki.
